Why the numbers differ
Every size on this page describes the same physical foot length, 27.9 cm. Europe measures in Paris points, where one size is two thirds of a centimetre, which is why EU numbers climb faster than UK and US numbers. The UK and the US both use the barleycorn system, a third of an inch per size, but they start counting from different points, and the US then splits again into separate men's and women's scales about 1.5 sizes apart.
